Description

On a naturalistic round base stands a young farmer woman in traditional Bohemian attire from the Pilsen region, wearing a black skirt, a floral apron, a short fur-lined jacket with a large yellow bow, and a white bonnet. She carries a prayer book under her left arm and holds a rosary in her right hand. The polychrome painting is adorned with gold accents. Possibly by Hugo Spieler, around 1897/98. Model number Q 190 from the Minim. rest. series; sword mark. Height: 16 cm. From a series of 25 costume figures by sculptor Hugo Spieler. Provenance: From the estate of a significant North German private collection. A porcelain figure of a woman in traditional Pilsen costume (Bohemia). Minor restoration. Crossed swords mark. Meissen, around 1898-1923.
