Description

On a round, relief-plastered terrain pedestal stands a peasant woman in traditional Vierlande costume (Hamburg) with a chest ornament, black bonnet, and a large, wide-brimmed straw hat. In both hands, she holds a basket filled with plastic flowers, resting on her thigh. Polychrome painting. Possibly by Hugo Spieler, around 1897/98. Model number Q 190, see rest. Sword mark. Height 16 cm. From a series of 25 costume figures by sculptor Hugo Spieler. Provenance: From the estate of a significant North German private collection. A porcelain figure of a peasant woman in traditional Vierlande costume (Hamburg). Restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Around 1935-1945.
