Rare Meissen figurine "Soldier on Horseback"

Meissen

Редкая фарфоровая фигура "Солдат на коне" Мейсенской фабрики.
Description

An oval base adorned with plastic flowers and lush foliage, supported by a tree trunk. A young gentleman seated on a horse, dressed in a rose-colored parade uniform with delicate yellow accents and gold embellishments, holding the reins in his left hand and saluting with his raised right hand. Hanging on the sides are drum-like vessels with rounded shapes. Polychrome painting with gold trim. Possibly by Johann Joachim Kaendler, around 1755. Condition uncertain; sword mark. Height: 19 cm. Likely based on copperplate engravings by Jacques Gabriel Huquier. A comparable Meissen figure is the "Paukenschläger zu Pferde" (Model No. 1963). Here, the horse's drums are depicted as small vessels. See Adams, Kaendler period, No. 205; Berling, Festschrift, Fig. 45 (similar). A rare porcelain figure of a soldier on horseback. Insignificantly restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Mid-18th century.
