Description

Greece "from the series" Four Monarchies" depicted on a rocaille-relief pedestal, standing in a majestic pose, is a young military commander Alexander the Great with his raised right hand, dressed in Roman attire with armor, a flowing cloak, and a feathered helmet with a spiked crown. Accompanying him is a "four-headed panther" (or three-headed Cerberus). Possibly by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Partially restored; hairline crack; crossed swords mark. Height 21.5 cm.
