Rare Meissen lavender fondue set with trade and landscape decor.

Meissen

Сервиз из фарфора Мейссена с лавандовым цветом и декором, изображающим торговлю и пейзаж.

9-piece set; 6 small cups with saucers, teapot, candy dish, and bowl. Round shapes. Spherical pitcher with leaf relief handle and spout. Partially plastic pine or flower knob. On the wall, bright, lavender-colored background with reserved areas outlined in brown, depicting scenes of landscapes with trees. In the distance, natural scenery, sometimes near riverbanks with sailboats and impressive architecture, standing merchants near barrels and balls, or couples and groups in conversation or engaged in work. Reflected in the mirror are large harbor scenes and depictions of rural fields, finely painted with polychrome colors and gold accents. Sword mark. Pitcher height: 9.5 cm. In the years between 1725 and 1735, the most frequent attempts were made to develop different background colors. Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt experimented, at the instigation of August the Strong, around 1726/1727, with various recipes for background colors and thus laid the foundation for Meissen porcelain. Among the rarest background colors are the lavender to lilac tones. The painting can be attributed to the factory painter and Hoeroldt collaborator Johann Georg Heintze (active around 1720-1748), who specialized in landscape prospects and Kaufmann scenes. See Pietzsch, Wark Collection, No. 225, pp. 457ff; Jedding, p. 137. A rare 9-piece lavender ground porcelain set with Kaufmann scenes and figural landscapes. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1740.
