Description

Saxon Porcelain Collection on a platter. Bulbous, multi-pass curved shape with a constricted wall. Chrysanthemum branches in Japanese Kakemono style on the wall and in the mirror. Polychrome painting in iron red, sea green, and enamel blue with black contouring. Incised Johannem (or Palace) No. "N = 336.w" (Inventory No. of the Japanese Palace). Partially minimally restored; crossed swords mark. Height of cup: 7 cm. Diameter: 9.5 cm - 14.5 cm. Comparable examples can be found in the State Art Collections Dresden (Inventory No. PE 5056 a, b), the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin (M 118 a), the MAK Vienna (Inventory No. KE 896-1), and the Hermitage St. Petersburg.
