(1789 Hoogeveen - 1813 Amsterdam) Winter landscape view of a deeply snow-covered village with half-timbered farmhouses and oaks; on the left in the foreground, returning from gathering firewood, an old woman and a young man with a dog; on the right in front of a farmhouse entrance, three additional figures. Atmospherically tuned, this rare work by the young deceased artist, from whom no other known painting has been preserved, was previously known. Jan Vuring van Drielst learned from his stepfather Egbert van Drielst (1745 - 1818) in Amsterdam. The present winter landscape, created in 1812, immediately connects with its motif, style, and composition to his landscapes. Oil on canvas, relined; dimensions 63 cm x 72.5 cm. Framed.
