Adolf Charles Maximilian Engel
(1801 Kortrijk/Courtrai - 1833 Ghent) Landscape with Old Stone Bridge and Figures in the Morning Light. Romantic atmosphere landscape by Engel, who studied under Pieter Frans (Pierre François) De Noter (1779-1842) at the Ghent Academy. He primarily painted in the picturesque regions of Flanders, Wallonia, and the Ardennes. Engel depicted scenes in Ghent, Douai, Brussels, and Lille, including a "Landscape with Cattle" from the year 1827, which is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Oil on canvas; signed; 39 cm x 46 cm. Framed.
