(1828 Königsbrück/Dresden - 1911 Munich) Village on an Alpine Lake enlivened by a figurative staffage, an atmospherically tuned landscape painted by a artist trained at the Dresden Academy, Christian Gottlob Hammer, whose oeuvre is dominated by high mountain motifs. Rose undertook study trips to Switzerland and Italy, and alongside Alpine motifs, he also painted Norwegian fjords and seascapes with fishing boats on the moving waters of the North Sea or the Mediterranean. Oil on canvas; Signed; 57 cm x 75 cm. Framed.
