(1826 Ballenstedt - 1907 ibid.) A view of the Harz landscape with a beech forest and a stream, where a man rests with his dog, on the plain of light and sun - a water mill and a larger house. This is a late Romantic, atmospheric work by a landscape painter who exhibited an "evening landscape" with a motif from Walkenried at the Berlin Academy exhibition in 1868; another "Harz landscape" from 1871 was in the Ducal Gallery in Gotha. Oil, canvas, new lining. Signed. Dimensions: 78 cm x 96.5 cm. Framed.
