Atmospheric, thinly layered harvest scenes by Shayers, who was equally talented as a landscape painter and figure painter. He exhibited over 400 paintings at the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists, and the British Institution; his works belong to the Tate Gallery and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Oil on canvas. (Stamp from Melver Thomas, London). Signed and dated 1848. On the reverse, there is an artist's label with an inscription and the location of Southampton. 30.5 cm x 43.5 cm. Framed.
