
August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer

(1802 Berlin - 1866 Nyon) attributed to; Italian landscape with a palace, a small study. The landscape painter collaborated with the famous gardeners Peter Joseph Lenné and Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau. From 1827 to 1831, Schirmer spent time in Italy; in 1835 he became a member of the Berlin Academy, where he taught landscape painting from 1839. In 1840 or 1843, he was appointed professor. After returning from a trip to Italy, August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer died in June 1866 in Nyon on Lake Geneva. Oil, canvas on wooden panel, mounted on a wooden board. On the reverse—an old label inscribed "W. Schirmer". Requires restoration. 15 cm x 20.3 cm. Framed. Attributed to August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer (1802-1866).
