(1842 Munich – 1898 same place) View of Mindelheim with Mindelburg. A distant view from a hill of the small, picturesque old town in the Unterallgäu region of Swabia. In the background, the snow-covered mountains of the Allgäu Alps. On the left side of the painting are the town parish church of St. Stephan, the round prison (also known as the Hunger, Ominous, or Robber’s Tower), and the tower of the Church of St. Sylvester. On the right side of the painting is the city’s landmark, the medieval Mindelburg on Georgenberg. An atmospherically moody late Romantic painting by Feldhütter, who was a student of Julius Lange in Munich and known for his Alpine landscapes. Oil on canvas. Signed and ambiguously dated. 49 cm x 91 cm. In a frame.
