

(1821 Born - 1911 Paris) "Gondolas". Original title Meisterhaft, executed with a few brushstrokes - a preliminary study of a fully occupied Venetian gondola with gondoliers. Ziem was a member of the Barbizon School, who debuted in 1849 at the Salon in Paris, and since then became one of the regular exhibitors. In 1860, Ziem settled in the artistic quarter of Montmartre. Ziem's favorite motif was Venice, where he traveled annually from 1841 to 1892. Oil on oak panel. Titled and signed on the reverse; 14 cm x 45.5 cm. Framed.
