A particularly atmospheric and characteristic work by Stademann, who studied under Carl August Lebschnee and Moritz Lotze. Inspired by 17th-century Dutch masters, he preferred to dedicate himself to depicting moonlight and winter scenes, to which he skillfully added an atmospheric, impressionistic touch with free brushwork and color.
