(1786 Nördlingen - 1862 Munich) Scene from the Wars of Liberation 1813-1815. On a hill, an infantry unit marches, accompanied by two officers on horseback, one of whom speaks with a civilian on a field road. In the background, a panoramic view of a landscape intersected by small mountains, with a village and individual one-and-a-half-story houses. The scene depicts volunteers of a free corps or an East German infantry regiment that fought against Napoleon's Grande Armée in the Wars of Liberation of 1813-1815. In one of the scenes in East Prussia, the topographical structure (with two intersecting forks in the foreground) and the unity of the soldiers are clearly visible. The filigree, colorfully painted episode has obvious parallels with the works of Albrecht Adam. He himself experienced many battles during the Napoleonic Wars. Based in Munich from 1815, his virtuosic battle paintings brought him fame. Oil on canvas; 56.5 cm x 70 cm. Framed. Circle of Albrecht Adam (1786-1862). Oil on canvas.
