(1793 Sunderland - 1867 Hampstead/London) Winter view of Widebrook (Pont garden) in South Tyrol with Trostburg Castle in the foreground, a cart and figures in front of a bridge over the Eisack River. A drawing by Stanfield with the same motif served as inspiration for the graphic work "Thronsberg," which appeared in 1832 in "Heath's Picturesque Annual for 1832" in London or around 1840 in the volume "La Suisse et Le Tyrol, scenes from mountain life" by L. Janet in Paris. Oil on canvas; monogram "JD" on the cart. 37 cm x 28 cm. Framed. Circle of Clarkson Stanfield (1793-1867). Oil on canvas. Monogram "JD" on the rear of the cart.
