(1849 Granvin, Hardangerfjord/Norway - 1937 Balestrand/Sognefjord) Summery Norwegian Fjord landscape with red fisherman's house, exceedingly atmospheric, in motif and style characteristic, cheerful impression of the significant Norwegian painter. Dahl studied in Karlsruhe and Düsseldorf, among others with Hans Gude; from 1888 to 1919 he was based in Berlin. Dahl regularly spent the summer months in Norway, where since 1893 he had a villa in the Dragon Style in Balestrand and primarily depicted light-filled fjords. From 1877 to 1913, Dahl participated in the major Berlin art exhibitions; in 1876, 1878, 1889, and 1893 he was represented at the world exhibitions in Philadelphia, Paris, and Chicago. Oil on canvas; signed and dated 1903. Verso likely handwritten on the stretcher "Hans Andreas Dahl (/) Berlin W Kurfürstenstraße 126". 45.5 cm x 67 cm. Framed.
