(1884 Neustadt a. d. Hardt - 1957 Bad Dürkheim) Horse's Head Horses, riders, and equestrian sports have been a central theme in Dill's oeuvre since the beginning. He often attended horse races and polo games, including those in Munich and Iffezheim near Baden-Baden. From 1908 to 1914, Dill studied at the Munich Academy and was a master student of animal painter Heinrich von Zügel. Already in 1917, Dill was represented at the Glass Palace with a large collection of paintings and drawings. From 1922 to 1930, he was a member of the Munich Secession. In 1924, he was awarded the title of professor, and in 1949, he was appointed an honorary member of the Academy of Arts in Munich. Watercolor and gouache on paper. Signed. Dimensions: 45.5 cm x 33.5 cm (passepartout cutout). Frame. Provenance: Kunsthaus Bühler, Stuttgart; German private collection, Rhineland-Palatinate.
