

Papier-mâché, black lacquered. Round with a rounded edge. On the lid, there is an image of a nude beauty emerging from the sea with long dark-blond hair, lightly surrounded by clouds and mist. To her left in the water are two hippocamps, to the right a dolphin, and on a cloud a pair of white turtle-doves. On the inside of the lid it is inscribed "The Birth of Venus" in red and numbered "6274". The inner base is correspondingly numbered and marked "Stobwasser Factory in Brunswick".
