Description

On a high pedestal, with plastic branches and floral vines, sits a half-dressed Venus on a stone base, accompanied by a standing winged Cupid with a quiver, his wings gilded. Opposite them is a cooing pair of doves, symbolizing love. Polychrome painting. Possibly a work by Peter Reinicke around 1747. There is minor restoration; slight damage; crossed swords mark. Height 18.5 cm. See Pietsch, Catalog of Meissen Porcelain Sculpture by Kirchner and Kändler, number 111. Porcelain group figure of Venus and Cupid. Slightly restored. There is a small chip.
