Description

A full depiction of the Nursing Madonna (Maria lactans) on a mirror and a rising flag, executed in polychrome painting by Leonardo da Vinci (now attributed to G. A. Boltraffio). On the flag, against a pink berry background, there is rich gold trim in stylized flowers. A decorative border strip runs around the shin. Artist's mark; manufacturer's mark. Diameter 25 cm. A Russian porcelain plate featuring the "Madonna Litta." Artist's signature; manufacturer's mark. Russia. Moscow/Dulyovo. M. S. Kuznetsov. Circa 1900.
