(1837 Frankfurt a.M. - 1907 ibid.) Russian Love Couple on Horses. Finely executed genre painting by Beers. The artist studied at the Städelschen Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt under Jakob Becker and Edward von Steinle. Influential for Beers' oeuvre were his repeated travels to Russia, during longer stays in 1867-1870 and 1877 in the Smolensk government, where he extensively studied the land and its people. Through the motifs frequently painted by him from Russian folk life, he was also called "Russian Beers". In 1897, Beers was appointed head of a master studio at the Städelschen Kunstinstitut and was appointed professor in 1899. Oil on cardboard. Signed and dated 1898. 26.5 cm x 19 cm. Framed.
