"Evening light in a country yard: 19th century painting by Dupré"

A painted work with a soft-pastose ductus by Dupré, in whose oeuvre such evening or nocturnal landscapes from the forest of Fontainebleau and its surroundings occupy a significant place. Dupré, one of the most important artists of the Barbizon School and close friend of Théodore Rousseau, was one of the most influential French landscape painters of the 19th century; he was also one of the co-founders of the "Paysage intime" movement.
