"Evening light in a country yard: 19th century painting by Dupré"

(1811 Nantes - 1889 l'Isle Adam) Farmstead under trees in the evening light. A painted work with a soft-pastose ductus by Dupré, in whose oeuvre such evening or nocturnal landscapes from the forest of Fontainebleau and its surroundings occupy a significant place. Dupré, one of the most important artists of the Barbizon School and close friend of Théodore Rousseau, was one of the most influential French landscape painters of the 19th century; he was also one of the co-founders of the "Paysage intime" movement. Dupré's works can be found, among others, in the Louvre and Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Oil on canvas. Signed. Dimensions: 43 cm x 59 cm. Framed.
