
August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer
(1802 Berlin - 1866 Nyon) attributed; Italian landscape with palace, small-scale study. The landscape painter collaborated with the renowned garden architects Peter Joseph Lenné and Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau. From 1827 to 1831, Schirmer spent time in Italy; in 1835, he became a member of the Berlin Academy, where he taught landscape painting since 1839. In 1840 or 1843, he was appointed professor. Upon his return from a trip to Italy, August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer died in June 1866 in Nyon on Lake Geneva. Oil on canvas, laid on wood panel, mounted on a wooden board. On the verso, an old label with the inscription "W. Schirmer." In need of restoration. 15 cm x 20.3 cm. Framed. Attributed to August Wilhelm Ferdinand Schirmer (1802-1866).
