(1825 Frankfurt am Main - 1905 Kronberg im Taunus) Scene in the courtyard of the "Goldene Geste" inn in the Fahrgasse in Frankfurt. A mood-filled, warm-toned painted motif from Old Frankfurt. Burger was based in Cronberg from 1858, where he was a co-founder and leader of the local painters' colony. In addition to motifs from Old Frankfurt, he also created landscapes, rural genre scenes, and interior scenes, often with a wintry atmosphere. In 1894, Burger was appointed a royal Prussian professor. He was a collector in Paris, Vienna, and London, beyond Germany. Oil on canvas. Signed. Dimensions: 26.5 cm x 32.5 cm. Verso with old inscription: "'Old Frankfurt' by Prof. A. Burger Frankfurt." Framed.
