

(1895 Leipzig - 1960 ibid) In the Café Lebendig, a vividly depicted, expressively realistic scene with waiters in livery and gallant guests. For Schwimmer's oeuvre, an exceptionally large sheet, which otherwise preferred small formats for his immediately created representations. Schwimmer taught at the School of Applied Arts in Leipzig until his dismissal by the National Socialists in 1933. In 1937, works by Schwimmer were also destroyed in the "Degenerate Art" campaign. From 1946 to 1950, Schwimmer was a professor at the State Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Trade in Leipzig; since 1951, he has been heading the Graphics Department of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.
