(1806 Berlin - 1862 ibid) Winter landscape with water mill and old half-timbered houses. Romantic, atmospherically tuned landscape by Schmidt, who worked in the studio of Ludwig Doells and Carl Blechens, where he received decisive inspiration for landscapes that distinguish themselves through sensitive depiction of the observed and nature. Since 1832, Schmidt was a frequent exhibitor at the Berlin Academy exhibitions, as well as at the art exhibitions in Hanover and Dresden, where he was represented with his landscapes and marine paintings. Oil on wood panel. Signed. 39 cm x 48 cm. Probably original frame.
