(1886 Schönau b. Heidelberg - 1948 Karlsruhe) Summer landscape on the Baltic Sea, viewed from a hill with grain stacks overlooking the sea under a bright blue, lightly clouded sky. This impressionistic landscape was captured by Hempfing, who had a particular affinity for the northern German and East Prussian coasts (Sylt, Samland, Rügen, and Usedom). Hempfing, who studied at the Karlsruhe Academy, exhibited his paintings at the Glaspalast in Munich, the Künstlerhaus in Vienna, and the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin. Oil on canvas; signed and dated 1947. 76 cm x 104 cm. Framed.
