(1829 Osterkappeln near Osnabrück - 1908 Munich) Student Feinflüssig painted, narratively depicting, with sensitive characterization of figures, a student playing the flute in a courtyard next to an aviary, fruit and vegetable beds. This is a typical work by the Munich genre and historical painter, who studied at the Munich Academy under Philipp von Foltz and with Joseph Kehren in Düsseldorf. He created frescoes in the castles of Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee for King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Oil on wooden panel. Signed. Original frame.
