A captivating genre painting depicting a young woman in Bavarian costume seated on a stump-studded log wall in front of a farm, surrounded by a girl and a small child, as well as chickens, a sheep, a lamb, and a dog. Rendered in a delicate and nuanced color palette, this work is a fine example of an Upper Bavarian genre painter who studied at the Munich Academy. Oil on mahogany (with a label from Schachinger & Herrmann, Munich). Signed and dated (18)84. 33 cm x 43.5 cm. Framed.
