"Evening landscape with beech forest: an atmospheric masterpiece by a landscape artist"

(1826 Ballenstedt - 1907 ibid) Harz landscape view of a beech forest with a stream, where a man rests with his dog, in the sunlit middle ground a water mill and a larger house. This late Romantic, atmospheric work is by the landscape painter who, in 1868, exhibited an "evening landscape" with a motif from Walkenried at the Academy exhibition in Berlin; another "Harz landscape" from 1871 was located in the Ducal Gallery in Gotha.
