(1849 Freiburg - 1910 Karlsruhe) Campagna Landscape with Resting Women at the Fountain. The landscape is bathed in light, creating an impression of Roman landscape. In 1871/72, the artist undertook his first extensive study trip to Italy. Upon his return, he studied from 1874 to 1883 at the Art School in Karlsruhe under Hans Fredrik Gude, Eugen Bracht, and Gustav Schönleber. Since 1886, Roman has been teaching at the renowned painting school in Karlsruhe, which was newly founded in October 1885. In 1895, he took over its leadership. Oil on canvas.
