(1840 Norburg/Alsen - 1913 Coburg) A Summer Day in Venice. Summery, light-filled view of a bustling waterfront promenade with a white stone balustrade, behind which stretches the bright blue Canal Grande and the silhouette of the city of Venice rises. Painted with a quick, partly impastoed brushstroke, this landscape impression is reminiscent of the style of Anton Melbye, a student of Hamburg, who later studied with Hans Gude in Karlsruhe and Arthur von Ramberg in Munich. From 1870 onwards, based in Munich, Rasch undertook numerous study trips, including to Brittany, the Adriatic, and Venice. Oil on wooden panel. Signed and inscribed with location Venice and Munich. 20 cm x 29 cm. Framed.
