(1819 Valenciennes - 1916 Saint-Privé) attributed; Angler by the River is an impressively captured, representative work in both motif and style by the artist. Harpignies was a student of landscape painter Jean Alexis Achard and was significantly influenced by the Barbizon school, especially Camille Corot. Oil on canvas, laid down on cardboard. Indistinctly signed. 26.2 cm x 21.2 cm. Framed.
