Original title: "Kraftvoll konturiertes, in der Farbpalette stark reduziertes Werk" by Maserreels, who dedicated himself to painting in his later years. He studied under Jean Delvin at the Gent Academy and graphic arts under Jul. de Bruycker. After his studies, he spent many years in Paris and was part of the circle around Romain Rolland. After the Second World War, he took a teaching assignment at the Saarbrücken School of Applied Arts. The artist, born on the Flemish coast in Blankenberghe, repeatedly returned to the coast during the summer, where he painted harbor scenes, sailors, and bathers. Oil on paper, mounted on cardboard. Signed and dated 1955. Inscribed by a foreign hand on the reverse. Approximately 46.2 cm x 54.7 cm. Framed.
