Copper engraving by Braun and Hogenberg from "Civitates Orbis Terrarum (...)", 1572-1618. Four views on one sheet, including a view of Kozhikode (Calicut), along with the views of Kannur (Cannanore), the Iranian island Hormuz (Ormus), and the Portuguese fortress Fort São Jorge da Mina (Elmina Castle or St. George's Castle) on the Gold Coast, present-day Ghana (also known as "Guinea a Africa"). Plate size 34 cm x 47.5 cm. Framed. Provenance: Northern German old hotelier family.
