Karl Ens. Magnificent porcelain figurine "Ara Parrot". Germany. Dated 1970s.
This impressive interior porcelain figurine of an Ara parrot was made at the Karl Ens factory, known for its animalistic figurines. The elongated and contrasting pedestal in the form of a branch enhances the striking appearance of the parrot figure. The multicolored painting, which accurately depicts the natural coloring of these magnificent tropical birds, impresses with its richness and variety of shades. The color shifts emphasize the exquisite detailing of the bird's feathers, creating an illusion of complete realism. The voluminous modeling of the feathers is complemented by multi-layered detailing of the finer features. Thanks to this, each feather stands out and reflects the light, naturally conforming to the position of the bird's body, the curve of its back, and wings. The artist particularly succeeded in capturing the parrot's head with its characteristic powerful beak.
The parrot figurine is almost in life-size, full of life and dynamism, as if the bird is about to take flight, spreading its powerful wings.
