Bankruptcy and closure
In the 1980s, the factory reached its peak for the third time. However, in the next decade, a crisis emerged due to the increase in imports of European and then Chinese porcelain. Western products captivated with their original, unfamiliar design, while Asian products were appealing due to their price. Against the backdrop of imported diversity, traditional sets and figurines with national charm seemed "bland" and unreasonably expensive.
The porcelain giant in Baranovka managed to hold on longer than others. However, in 2013, it was revealed that the production base of the enterprise had long been exported and sold to foreign companies. Only a "shell" of the factory remained, losing its ability to compete in the market and produce goods at all. The authorities of the Zhytomyr region were forced to declare the manufacturer with a history of over 200 years bankrupt. Today, there are several small private workshops in the city, but their products cannot compare in terms of quality or environmental safety to those produced by the factory.
