Description

Paper pulp, black lacquer. Round with a slant. The lid is carefully decorated with a view of Dresden from the left bank of the Elbe, at the level of the piers. On the horizon, the city skyline with the Frauenkirche, Belvedere, Brühlsche Terrasse, the Catholic Hofkirche, and the Augustusbrücke. In the foreground, figures of people on the Elbe meadows, including strollers and boat builders. On the Elbe, a large sailing boat and several rowing boats. Probably based on the engraving "Dresden from the Morning Side" by the artist Christian Friedrich Sprinck (1769–1831). Multicolored lacquer. Minor damages. Height 1.8 cm, diameter 9.5 cm.
