(1861 Copenhagen - 1900 ibid.) Coastal landscape with sailing ships. A characteristic feature of the Danish school of painting, this landscape radiates a bright atmosphere dominated by shades of blue. From 1884, Djerichau began to depict landscapes with Italian motifs. He spent most of his life abroad, mainly in Italy, but also in southern Russia and Asia, including a year in India (1893/94). Most of his Danish landscapes date from 1885 and 1886, when he lived near Hørsholm. Oil on canvas; signed and faintly dated 188(...?). 30 cm x 52 cm. In a frame.
