(1610 Haarlem – 1688 same place). Attributed; Joyful music-making and a drinking company in a multi-figure scene in a tavern with various bourgeois and rural figures, in the foreground a lute player, an elegant young man with a flute, and a young woman singing with a sheet of music. The motif and stylistically typical panel painting of a well-known genre painter, predominantly active in Haarlem and Amsterdam, who preferred depicting merry gatherings. Among numerous similar works documented by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Oil, oak panel. 41.5 cm x 58 cm. Framed. Attributed to Jan Miense Molenaer (1610–1688).
