(1712 Weimar – 1774 Dresden), attributed; Esther’s Helplessness before Ahasuerus. An accurately depicted scene from the Old Testament. Dietrich, mastering many styles and motifs, especially influenced by Dutch and Flemish Baroque painting, was highly esteemed in Dresden under Augustus the Strong. In 1741, he became court painter, and in 1765, professor at the academy. Oil on oak wood panel. On the reverse, there is an old adhesive label with attribution. Approximately 23.5 cm x 34.5 cm. In a frame. Attributed to Christian Wilhelm Dietrich, also known as Dietrich (1712-1774). Oil on oak wood panel. On the reverse, there is an old label with attribution.
