

(1863 Bremen – 1922 Munich) A small harbor Impressionist landscape of Northern Germany, possibly featuring a motif on the Unterweser or one of its tributaries. Winnen studied under Fritz Mackensen and Otto Modersohn in Düsseldorf; he was part of the Worpswede artists' colony, although he never lived there himself. In addition to Mackensen and Modersohn, he became acquainted with Hans am Ende, Fritz Overbeck, Heinrich Vogeler, and Paula Modersohn-Becker. Oil on cardboard.
