An early impressionist landscape by Clarenbach from the period of his studies at the Düsseldorf Academy. At the age of 15, he went on trips to Dutch Zeeland, during which this painting was created. From 1902/03, Clarenbach triumphed with his landscapes and taught at the Düsseldorf Academy from 1917 to 1945. Oil on cardboard. Signed and dated; lower right with the date 6.9.(18)95. The reverse with a studio label (inscribed "Professor Max Clarenbach, Wittlaer near Kaiserswerth, Rhein Haus Clarenbach") again titled and dated. 21 cm x 19.5 cm. In a frame.
