

(1821 Bom – 1911 Paris) "Bragos Boats Returning". Original title: Fischerboote in der Lagune von Venedig, with a small depiction of a fisherman in the upper right corner. Ziem was a member of the Barbizon school, made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1849, and was a regular exhibitor. In 1860, Ziem settled in the Montmartre artistic quarter. His favorite subject was Venice, which he traveled to annually from 1841 to 1892. Sepia wash drawing on paper. Signed, inscribed, and dated 1874(?) below. Darkened.
