
Papier-mâché, black lacquered. Round with a beveled edge. On the lid, the depiction of a nude beauty emerging from the sea with long, dark blonde hair lightly enveloped by clouds and mist. To her left side in the water, two hippocampi, to her right a dolphin, and on a cloud, a pair of white turtle doves. On the inner lid, titled "Birth of Venus" in red and numbered "6274". The inner bottom correspondingly numbered and labeled "Stobwasser's Factory in Braunschweig". Polychrome lacquer painting. Height 1.5 cm, diameter 9.5 cm.
