Fruit still life with a glass: exquisite organization of composition
Description

(1838's-Hertogenbosch/Den Bosch - 1916 ibid) Fruit still life with glass. An artfully arranged still life consisting of apples and pears, a sliced apple and a walnut, with a standing square stone block. A green chalice glass with a fruit-laden branch immersed in it, scattered filigree leaves in the foreground on the ground. Executed in a finely lacerated, old masterly painting style, this work is a true-to-nature piece from the small, well-known oeuvre of the painter who specialized in flower and fruit still lifes, and likely learned from her father Willem Verbeet (1801-1887). In the years 1854-1863, she exhibited multiple times in 's-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam, The Hague, and Leeuwarden. Oil on mahogany panel. Signed and dated 1856. Dimensions: 39.5 cm x 31 cm. Framed.
