(1844 Warnkenhagen - 1924 Berlin) Dogs in front of the Fireplace: A characteristic painting by the renowned animal painter, who specialized in vivid depictions of horses and dogs, after studying at the Dresden and Berlin Academy under Carl Steffeck and Paul Friedrich Meyerheim. In 1893, he became a professor himself. Oil on canvas; signed and dated; label of the court art dealer Honrath & van Baerle, Berlin, circa 1900, on the reverse. Dimensions: 33 cm x 24 cm. Framed.
