Romantic painting by an artist from Weimar

(1846 Allstedt b. Weimar - 1910 München-Pasing) Traute Togetherness, a glimpse into a kitchenette, with a girl sitting on a bench, feeding a toddler on her lap. A romantic work by the artist, who in this cabinet painting combines a realistic depiction of the figures with an impressionistic captured lighting atmosphere. The artist studied at the art school in Weimar from 1866-1871, where he became a professor in 1882. In 1889, he moved to Munich and joined the local Secession in 1893. Piltz particularly enjoyed depicting rural and urban folk life with its traditional customs, festivals, and costumes. His strength lay in the lively portrayal of children. Oil on wood panel. Signed. 35 cm x 26.5 cm. Framed.
